Submission Requirements

Holistic - HV Written Submission Requirements

These are the requirements for various written submissions to the site.

General rules & requirements

  1. If you write for a particular category or subcategory, the discount applies to a listing within that category.
  2. You can only qualify for one article discount and one introduction discount per category.
  3. Your discount can only equal the submission rate. You won't get paid to submit articles. A discount is a discount, not a cash payment. If you somehow manage to get a $300 discount, and the listing is $249, your balance is $0. I don't owe you anything. Why not find a service you can use that other $51 discount on?
  4. No refunds on paid submissions. Once you pay for a lifetime category listing, you can't change your mind and qualify for a discount. If you decide to remove your listing before your lifetime has expired, there are no refunds. If your business is sold or inherited by someone else, the lifetime listing is transferable along with the business -- it is good for the lifetime of the business. If you are kicked off the site for inappropriate behavior (hacking the site, posting inappropriate content not viewable by minors, posting gratuitous offsite links or offsite links to irrelevant sites i.e. linkspam, linkfarming, spamming members, starting or participating in flame wars, vandalizing the site, causing any sort of havoc, etc.), there are no refunds.
  5. You may submit as many articles as you like that link to relevant on-site references, such as your own page. The link reference must be relevant; there must be further supporting information on the targeted page. You stand to gain even without applying an article discount to your membership, because the more articles you have the more often your articles will be featured, and the more visitors will wander onto your pages.
  6. You may create links to your own site outside of the directory provided that your website actually has relevant content.
  7. You may always link from your private directory listing page to your website, as much as you want to. Note that relevant links will make your private directory listing page more popular in search engines.
  8. Once you are a directory member, you may apply for listings under additional categories, at the standard prices. Residents may also submit articles to gain discounts and listings for other categories or subcategories. This way, your listing is listed and featured in more than one area of the directory. You still only get the single sign-on bonus dedicated page for your directory entry. At this time, additional pages in your directory entry are at a low one-time fee.

Specific rules & requirements

Category Articles

These will be rotated into and out of featured article listings on the home (welcome) page of the site, listed under the Category in the directory, and will comprise an area of the website that is like a magazine or research resource. Articles are expected to be keyworded, linked, relevant to their category. You may submit well-researched essays, relevant stories, historical information, or general resources about the category. You may freely link to relevant information on your own website or your business's page in the directory, as long as the links are actually relevant -- there must be real content on the other end of the link that provides new, supporting, or supplemental information to the reader. Links that go offsite to websites other than your own need to be doubly relevant, of the highest reference quality (showing sources of information, for example), and should be chosen very carefully. Category Articles may be of unlimited length, but may be broken down on the site into smaller "parts" (i.e. Part I, Part II...) for reader convenience. Please make sure that your article has a well-grouped flow, subtitles, supporting images, and is spell-checked. We reserve the right to reject poorly referenced, inappropriately linked, and inadequately spell-checked articles. You may correct your work and re-submit it for consideration.

There are no limits to the number of Category articles you can submit. All original, relevant and well-written articles that are not redundant with more than 2 other articles in the category will be accepted into the rotation of articles on the site, however you can only qualify for a discount once per category or subcategory, and only if you qualify as a resident.

Non-residents may submit articles for consideration, following the same guidelines as above, but without the discount for membership.

Category Introductions (directory area)

Category introductions need to be more carefully thought out and concise while doing justice to introduce a category of the directory. There is a 500-word limit on introductions to keep them from becoming too lengthy, and to maintain peak reader interest. Keywords for the category should appear in the introduction (the introduction for herbalists should probably mention "herbs", "herbal medicine", "Chinese traditional medicine" and "Ayurveda" ). You may link to supporting information in other articles or on other pages in the directory, including your own page(s), in the introduction. Your name and a link to your business's page on the site will be featured as the attribution for the introduction while your introduction is displayed on the directory listing for your category. Links to external sites are more limited on introduction pages, please try to find supporting documents within the site.

Category introductions are chosen on a first-come first-served basis except where a new submission better meets the criteria for a category introduction. Once a category introduction is accepted for inclusion on the site, you qualify for the associated discounts regardless of whether or not your introduction is replaced. Once discounts are granted they are not revoked if your contribution is no longer featured on the site. You may compete for the featured place by resubmitting a revised introduction for the category. Category introduction discounts are only given once per category.
